T-SQL Tuesday #014 #TSQL2sday

@MidnightDBA is hosting a blog discussion on *what techie resolutions have you been pondering, and why?* You should jump over there to see what all the participants had to say and get yourself a big ‘ol helping of SQL (MVP) Awesomesauce.

To avoid falling victim to the word *assume*, I decided to ask Webster about the word *techie*.  The term techie is anyone excited by technology.  Hey that describes me!  Using the loosest definition all my resolutions can be classified as techie resolutions; however, to play it safe I still went with the geekier definition which was technology resolutions of a techie, POWER(techie, 2).

1. Write a script to perform a SQL Server check-up. Why not use BPAPBM or MDW?  Hopefully this reinventing of the wheel will result in a more educational experience and a more specialized solution.

2. Read two books on the next SQL Server release at the same time.  Not at the same time as in parallelism, but the same time as in time slicing.  Why at the same time?  @AndyLeonard mentioned this great approach to achieve idea cross pollination in his blog post, Passion.

3. Prepare for SQL Server 2008 Microsoft Certified Master exam.  Why only *prepare*?  The bar is set low to avoid being the wrong character in The Tortoise and the Hare fable.  Speaking of hares, 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit and forecasted to be peaceful so why not turn it down a notch.  Not off, just down.
